Limestone
180 cm x 130 cm
"Doubt" is a limestone sculpture that embodies the movement of massive geometric forms. Limestone is the most common material used for cladding buildings in Baku, Azerbaijan and over the past 15 years, numerous restoration works have been carried out throughout the city. Along with this, many new museums, houses, and parks have been built, but it has required the demolition of entire residential neighborhoods. The new architecture in the old city raises doubts.
In the "Doubt" sculpture, I aimed to convey the movement of powerful geometric forms. By using limestone, I created a contrast between its smooth surface and the solidity of the forms in motion. The sculpture embodies the emotion of doubt and prompts viewers to contemplate the contradictions and changes happening in the urban space.
